The Psychology of Self-Justification: A Conversation with Carol Tavris

  • San Francisco, CA (map)

with Carol Tavris

Why will people cling to a mistaken belief even when that belief can kill them? How can people who think Covid is a hoax and vaccines are dangerous still maintain they are right—even as they lie dying in an ICU? Carol Tavris is a social psychologist and coauthor, with Elliot Aronson, of Mistakes Were Made (But Not by Me). She will speak on the psychology of self-justification—why people stay on a path or hold onto a belief long past its expiration date, even when that belief is self-defeating, flat wrong, harmful … or plain foolish.

Join us for an afternoon salon with Carol as we try to shed some light on the burning question, “what are they thinking?!”
