Philippine cuisine seems to be one of the most underrepresented asian cuisines in America, and maybe even around the world. So join us and explore the beauty of Filipino food! Not only will you experience the entrancing aroma of food from the Philippines, but you will also experience the joy of cooking the dishes together with your peers!
On the menu will be Lumpia and Pancit, two staple Filipino dishes. Lumpia is the Filipino version of a Spring Roll… but better. And Pancit is essentially a version of stir fry.
The most vital–and best–part in making Lumpia is the rolling, of course! You don’t have to know what you’re doing; that’s what the professionals (Bel and Vicky) are for.
Bel & Vic came from different places—Bel (CA), Vic (NJ), met in high school and have known each other for over 30 years. They roomed together at University College London and U.C. Berkeley. They have traveled together throughout the U.S. and Europe. They share a love for food, art, culture and community. Bel & Vic are home cooks who want to share a part their food and culture—Bel (Filipino) and Vic (Chinese) with you. Please enjoy some Asian Street Food with Bel & Vic!
In the Filipino culture, appreciating your loved ones is one of the main customs. One cannot truly experience a meal without eating and cooking it with those around you. Rolling Lumpia is a group effort, so bring your family, friends, neighbors, anyone who is up to eat food and have a good time to our Filipino Feast! Beware, Lumpia is addicting! Come roll with us on Sunday, September 11th!
All proceeds will be donated to the charity Ambassadors for Hope and Opportunity (AHO)! Learn more about what AHO does at the link found here.
