As the story goes ”There was a chef in the China Imperial Court who left a batch of dumplings on the stove and forgot them. When he came back one side of the dumpling was burnt. He was lazy that day and decided to serve them as is. They were a hit.” The Potsticker was born.
If you are out dining in any Chinese restaurant, potstickers are surely on the menu. So join us and explore one of the most popular foods in the world! Not only will you experience the entrancing aroma while making the food, but you will also experience the joy of cooking the dishes together with your peers!
On the menu will be Potstickers and Fried Rice, two staple Chinese dishes. Special Chinese Teas and Dessert will also be served.
The most vital–and best–part in making potstickers is wrapping the dumplings of course! Don’t worry, you don’t have to know what you’re doing; that’s what the professionals (Bel and Vic) are for.
Bel & Vic came from different places—Bel (CA), Vic (NJ), met in high school and have known each other for over 30 years. They roomed together at University College London and U.C. Berkeley. They have traveled together throughout the U.S. and Europe. They share a love for food, art, culture and community. Bel & Vic are home cooks who want to share a part of their food and culture—Bel (Filipino) and Vic (Chinese) with you. Please enjoy some Asian Street Food with Bel & Vic!
As in any Chinese household on a Sunday, wrapping dumplings with family is a group effort, so bring your family, friends, neighbors, anyone who is up to eating tasty food and having a good time to our Feast! Beware, Vic’s recipe for her Potstickers and Fried Rice (she has a secret ingredient) is addicting! Come wrap with us on Sunday, July 30th!
We will be donating food from our party to COTS to “assist those experiencing homelessness in finding and keeping housing, increasing self-sufficiency, and improving well-being.” Please feel free to bring non-perishable canned goods to donate to COTS’ kitchen.
$88 per person; including satisfied taste buds and plenty of food to take home for others to try!
