Southern California Votum Talisman Workshop with Cathie Blackstone

SOLD OUT! Join us in beautiful La Cañada with sculptor and jewelry designer, Cathie Blackstone and learn how to put your own intentions, desires, and hopes into a work of art.

Choose from an assortment of unique beads and charms, each handmade and thoughtfully created by Cathie. Learn how to arrange and string onto a natural hemp cord, finished with a unique knot or simple tassel. Create your very own Votum - your own powerful talisman - to wear as a necklace or bracelet, hold in one’s hand, drape on a table, or hang on the wall.

Votum (def.: latin, vow, prayer, desire, wish, solemn promise, hope)

Humans have a relationship with beads that goes back as far as 142,000 years. We continue to use beads in symbolic ways for ritual, adornment, and trade. They are part of our everyday life. Beads made of organic materials - stone, clay, bone, wood, metal, and glass - are naturally grounded and hold the energy of the person that holds and wears it.

Workshop cost includes what you need to make an 11 bead Votum and a jute gift bag. Beads and charms are approximately ½” to 2” in diameter. Hemp cord is 12 to 20" long.

Individual beads available to purchase for those who love it so much they want to make more - at the workshop, to gift, or to go!

Limited spaces available, so sign up fast!
