My Collection

As my work evolves, I continue to be drawn to the beauty of light, simplicity, and the graphic boundaries of shape and space. Subconsciously, I find that my images often have a sense of journey, aloneness, and mystery.
Born in Philadelphia and raised in Chicago, I attended a very logical, alphabetized grade school and with a last name starting with the letter Z, I was often seated in the back corner of the room near the windows. I may have missed the finer points of what the teacher was talking about, but I spent many, many hours quietly staring out those windows, learning to see.
After my family’s move to Arizona in 1972, I switched from studying architecture to photography.
The Southwest opened my eyes to the Western landscape, and countless road trips while in art school set the stage for a career as a location photographer. My work and curiosity have taken me to over 40 countries, 300 cities and all 50 states. Travel continues to be a major influence on my observations and art.
My fine art work has been included in numerous exhibitions, museums shows, galleries and magazines. My prints are part of notable individual and corporate collections and I have been the recipient of numerous art honors including the Black and White Magazine Awards, Spider Awards Photographer of the Year, and inclusion in the international publication, Graphis Photo.
After many years of living up and down the West Coast and in the Sonoran Desert, my wife Erin and I have settled in Taos, New Mexico.

For many years, my wife and I lived in the North Bay area of San Francisco, which allowed for an endless visual exploration of Sonoma and Marin Counties.
In this collection of images, I was drawn to organic, nature based shapes and their interaction with atmospheric light, fog, and clouds that are often part of the magical Bay Area weather.
When all these elements come together in a way that fit my eye, I am able to create images that mirror my feelings, and have a sense of subtle and quiet calmness.
