Artist Statement
Humans have an intimate relationship with beads - collecting, trading, adorning, and praying with chunks of earth for thousands of years. When I sculpt and assemble my art, it is a meditation and practice of gratitude.
I am inspired by the interconnection of the natural world and spirituality. My forms are reminiscent of blossoms, seed pods, the human body, and ritual artifacts. Sculpture that asks to be touched, to be held, and turned over in the hand.
The Artist
I am an artist, designer, and playful thing-maker. I am passionate about good design and creating beautiful things that bring pleasure, joy, and peace.
The artist in me loves the process of making - the dreamy, meditative, and creative flow state. The designer side thrives in collaboration, problem-solving, technical challenge, and product.
My formal education is in graphic and industrial design. Creating art informs and balances my design work and my daily life. It is the voice of my heart, desires, and imagination.
When I am not creating beautiful things, I am gardening, hiking, plotting my next trip, cooking for everybody, dancing with my sweetheart, or playing with my giant puppy.
