My Collection

  • artist | interior designer | creative person

My life has always revolved around trying first to see the potential for beauty in what might seem to be prosaic objects, and then reassembling them into unusual new creations in which that natural beauty becomes more vivid.

I am driven by a relentless passion for innovation - renowned for my ability to think outside the box pushing the boundaries of traditional interior design. This pioneering spirit has earned me a reputation as a visionary in the field, challenging conventions and exploring new frontiers in everything I do.

And all through my life I have been asked the same questions: “How do you think of these things?  How do you see what ultimately emerges?” But the truth is, I never quite know until I start creating something.

My method for all my creative work - is all about the placement of disparate elements in unexpected ways.  My interiors - functional and others are simply assemblages – the same as my art.

Throughout my journey, I continue to hone my skills as both a painter and sculptor, with a particular focus on creating organic sculptures that seamlessly integrate with residential and commercial interiors. My artistry has graced the interiors of numerous clients, adding layers of depth and personality to their environments.

Beauty is not simply a luxury but woven into the very spirit of who we are, that it has the power to uplift spirits, foster connections, and enrich the human experience.

We all live in this world to make some use of our environment. The intent of my art is to show how our urge to create can creatively coexist in beautiful juxtaposition with the natural world.

  • As with any artist’s work, words can only begin to describe the visual and emotional effect of what I make, or even the inspiration behind it. That’s because the creative urge itself is inexplicable. Some call it “talent.” Others call it “vision.” But neither of those terms really captures the irresistible instinct that I have felt from a very early age to create what only can be called “the unusual.”

As a child, my parents encouraged me to indulge my visual imagination as much as I could. They knew that understanding where my inventive urges came from wasn’t as important as giving me the chance to see where all it might lead. So, I embarked on this path very early.

They provided me with a small allowance just for this purpose – to buy materials to work with – glue, string, paper, simple hardware, etc. They saw nothing strange about my enthusiasm for scavenging for objects to work with, which is one reason why I have always used natural materials such as branches, or rocks, or feathers, or bark and other interesting shapes and textures I came across in our backyard or around the neighborhood. Armed with my materials, I would find a place to work -- inside, outside, upstairs, or downstairs – to create whatever, wherever.

There was only one rule. I had to clean up after myself and put everything away before I could start on another project. This simple act of self-discipline remains a part of my creative routine to this day. For in creating art or indulging your imagination, it is important to be organized and responsible.

My life has always revolved around trying first to see the potential for beauty in what might seem to be prosaic objects, and then reassembling them into unusual new creations in which that natural beauty becomes more vivid. Thus, collecting begins…

And all through my life I have been asked the same questions: “How do you think of these things? How do you see what ultimately emerges?” But the truth is, I never quite know until I start making something or collecting objects to re-create them into disparate elements in unexpected ways as no one else does it. Some of my work is functional, and others are simply assemblages.

My JgM objects collection for the Saffron Shoppe will continue to evolve as objects find their way to other collectors – other admires. Continue to visit the shoppe often as you never know what will emerge…
